Why do I need this? 🤔

This sling backpack was the only “handbag” I took on our whirlwind trip through Italy—including Rome, Cinque Terre, Florence, and Pompeii—and it held up incredibly well throughout our 10-day adventure. That’s no small feat: It was pretty drizzly most of the time we were there, and some days we walked 20,000 steps or more. In addition to being able to withstand wet conditions, the bag also had to withstand the rigors of heavy use: I had to constantly put it on and take it off, adjust the strap, and unzip it multiple times a day. I also needed to pack enough stuff to last up to 12 hours of sightseeing.

And folks: It worked wonderful.

The real value here: the level of organization and storage offered by such a deceptively slim, compact bag. There are compartments galore: a larger main zippered compartment, a slip pocket that closes with the bag, a small zippered compartment on the front, two mesh side water bottle holders, a small zippered pocket on the strap, and more. With all of these things, I was prepared for anything. Some days I was able to fit a travel umbrella, reusable water bottle, wallet, passport, guidebook (thanks, Rick Steves), snacks, sunglasses, scarf, Kindle, external battery pack and extra cables, earbuds, iPhone, toiletries and medications, selfie stick, and even more. Phew! That’s an incredible amount considering the bag isn’t exactly huge at 15 x 7 x 3.5 inches.

Oh yes: It was comfortable. The shoulder strap is well padded, but if your shoulder gets tired, the bag can be converted into a belt bag (this is not necessarily made It’s also easy to wash – my trusty sugar-free Red Bull got into one of the bags, but I just rinsed the bag out at our hotel and left it to air dry, and it was perfectly fine the next day.
