This forgotten Autobot warrior must appear in the next Transformers film

Summary

  • Transformers: Rise of the Beasts
imagined a future in which the team would work with the GI Joes.
  • While this is exciting, it must be done with one of the Autobots’ most skilled warriors at their side: Springer.
  • Springer is a popular hero and his personality could show audiences how interesting the Autobots still are.

The Transformers have always been one of the most popular franchises that have captured the imagination of children since their release in the USA in 1984. Comparable to other toy series that continued to grow on television, such as Master of the Universe, The Transformers always had the impressive gimmick of being robots that transformed into vehicles. But as the series progressed, the real attraction for fans was how these robotic humanoids dealt with very real problems similar to those facing humanity thanks to the all too familiar idea of war, and in that comparison, these cool characters evolved into soldiers with roles and personalities not unlike those of real people in the military.

This fundamental reliability under The Transformers has made things incredibly easy for another popular franchise, GI Joe: A real American heroto tie in with the war between the Autobots and the Decepticons. Already, the Joes have been forging an alliance with the Autobots in comics, but it’s the hint of a collaboration in the film that has fans talking. With that in mind, though, there’s also the added anticipation of which Autobots should join the Joes in their fight against Cobra and the Decepticons. But no matter who is chosen, the most important thing is that a forgotten but beloved Autobot warrior joins the ranks: Springer.

10 Transformers Characters That Were Failed by Marvel Comics

While Marvel’s Transformers comics helped put the brand on the map, they did a disservice to certain characters, including Optimus Prime.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts was a sequel to the Autobot solo film Bumblebee and carried out many key elements The Transformers lore that had never appeared in live action. One of the most popular was the appearance of the Maximals led by Optimus Primal from the 90s series Beast WarsIt also saw the debut of Unicron, the planet-eating creature who only made a full appearance in the 1986 original. Transformers: The Movie. While the Transformers franchise has struggled to stay true to the original in the past, this film was one of the most faithful and even expanded on the lore in entertaining ways. One of the most exciting moments came at the end of the film when the main human character Noah Diaz met a man who recruited him into the GI Joes. In the past, the Joes were described as America’s elite special forces unit, taking on people from all walks of life to fight Cobra. Although military-focused, they have access to the latest technology and weaponry and fight in a battle that no normal army could match.

With the Transformers/GI Joe connection confirmed and the next installment being an official crossover, this is the best way for fans to live out the fantasy of heroes like Snake Eyes and Duke interacting with Bumblebee and Optimus Prime. However, this also means that no matter which Autobots show up, they will have to be both charismatic and battle-savvy, something that in the past only characters like Ironhide and Hound have shown. Fortunately, Transformers: The Movie introduced many new characters to live up to this claim, with Springer in particular promising to be the most energetic and entertaining warrior of all.

Springer is the noble hero of the Autobots

  • Springer was part of a mercenary faction called the “Wreckers.”
  • Springer owns firearms, but is best known for his sword skills.
  • Springer is one of the few G1 triple-changers featured in the series.

Transformers: Guide to Cliffjumper, the Red Bumblebee Doppelganger

Cliffjumper is often confused with the similar-looking Autobot Bumblebee and has rarely been able to forge his own path in the Transformers series.

When the characters from the first two seasons of The Transformers When their toy counterparts were discontinued, it meant that their time in the cartoon was over as well. From Ironhide to Optimus Prime, these beloved heroes and even villains like Starscream were brutally killed in Transformers: The Movie to make way for a new wave of characters. With the Autobots in particular, many new faces were introduced specifically for the film, including Hot Rod, Arcee, and of course Springer. While older Autobots like Kup were seasoned veterans, Springer had a natural inclination for combat and brought a lot of energy and agility to the battlefield. He was shown protecting his companions during the siege of Autobot City and taking on multiple Decepticons at once. He was also clever in the heat of battle, loading an anti-aircraft launcher while saying, “I’ve got better things to do tonight than die.”

Personality-wise, Springer always had a heroic touch to his every move, appearing as the best example of a heroic knight of the Autobots thanks to his sword. He was protective and strong, but also patient and kind, and thanks to his status as a triple-shifter into robot, car, and helicopter, it was entertaining to see him take on Decepticons with clever and unexpected transformations. He also possessed many leadership qualities that made him the perfect successor to Rodimus Prime on more than one occasion when it came to carrying the Matrix of Leadership. Comparing Springer to an Avenger, every aspect of his personality makes him similar to Captain America in the way he faces danger with calmness and alertness.

Springer has also proven his skills in other media, most recently in the comic series Rivals of the Void by Robert Kirkman and Lorenzo De Felici. In the story, Springer meets the main characters, two soldiers from opposing sides who are forced to work together, and he helps them escape one of their side’s armies. What made the scene so exciting was that Springer, who was much larger than his opponents, was able to fight the enemies and instill fear in them without killing them. He saw them as fragile and treated them as such, only choosing to instill fear in them and eventually send them back with information to help their community. In the grand scheme of the series, it’s a small scene that shows how smart and kind Springer is.

Springer could offer a lot to live action

  • The only original Autobots from Transformers: The Movie Arcee, Wheelie and Hot Rod appeared in the live-action films.
  • Snake Eyes is often considered the most popular character from GI Joe.
  • Hot Rod, Arcee and Springer were briefly involved in a love triangle in the cartoon.

GI Joe and Transformers crossover film receives promising update from franchise producer

Transformers and GI Joe producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura announces the status of the upcoming crossover between the two franchises.

It is not possible to predict what the Transformers/G.I. Joe crossover film, but most fans would probably believe it is a response to the Decepticons’ alliance with Cobra for world domination. There is still a lot to consider, however, as this is the first time the Joes have appeared with the Transformers in a more official capacity, and it is also the first time the Autobots have had to work with such capable humans. This means characters like Bumblebee and Optimus Prime will have to take a more military approach, similar to the opening scene of Bumblebee. This may not leave as much room for witty Autobots like Mirage, and there is a need for more experienced Autobots. In this regard, Springer has always been the perfect choice, combining youthful wonder with combat skills rarely seen in live-action films.

In the past, characters like Ironhide showed how much fun fighting in a Transformers film, but they lacked the finesse of the animated series. But with Springer in the mix, he was able to show fans a new side of the Autobots, allowing the Joes to see them less as massive weapons and more as soldiers who are their equals. From a fan’s perspective, though, Springer offers so much more, as there were no other Autobots other than Optimus that evoked a noble quality about them. Instead, they were either snarky warriors or fun pranksters. Now, with Springer, fans can see that there are other Autobot personalities that are just as interesting as they are unique. A lot rides on the success of a Transformers/G.I. Joe film, but by introducing characters like Springer it could bridge the gap between the two franchises and show fans that there are different personalities among the Autobots and they all help to make the world all the more interesting and entertaining.
