This dream wedding venue near The Woodlands offers an idyllic setting and a unique cabin for the groom – Inside Addison Woods

TThree-hundred-year-old trees line the five acres that the Woods family has owned since the 1940s, south of The Woodlands. This has always been a dreamy place. These days, it’s also a wedding paradise. The Addison Woods venue, named after the owner’s father, opened in 2020.

Addison Woods’ owners, Kady Woods and her husband Cody Jaeger, inherited the property, which had been in the family for three generations, along with their brothers. The property is located at the end of Pruitt Road, west of I-45 and north of the Grand Parkway. In the 1940s, the property was home to a Woods family feed store. Kady and Cody were living in France when the project took shape in 2018 and responsibility for maintenance and taxes passed to the next generation of Woods children.

“People didn’t believe we wanted to build here because we called and sent emails from a French cell phone number and it took a while to respond,” says Kady Woods Paper City The Woodlands. “And then COVID hit, so we built during COVID and just pulled it off and opened in October 2020.”

This rare blend of seemingly secluded, expansive green space in a prime location gives Addison Woods a unique appeal.

“You have The Woodlands right on your doorstep,” notes Kady Woods. “People have so many hotels to choose from in The Woodlands. And we’re 15 minutes from the airport, so it’s just a really ideal location.”

“We are truly blessed that The Woodlands has grown around us, because back then Woodlands Parkway was a dirt road through trees.”

Addison Woods comes to life

Kady and Cody built a chapel and event venue on the property, as well as a groom’s cabin. The venue can accommodate 220 guests and hosts weddings, corporate events, quinceañeras, birthday parties and more. In a typical year, Addison Woods hosts 120 to 150 events.

The couple returned from France in 2019 to oversee the construction of the chapel, reception hall and groom’s cabin. The chapel is named after Kady Woods’ grandmother, Laura May. The light-filled space has white walls and pews, but can be decorated. Simple, elegant chandeliers light up the room in the evenings.

“We designed this to be your blank canvas with just little pops of color or little pieces of flowers here and there,” says Kady Woods. “A wedding day usually starts in the chapel. And then your minister directs everyone to go to cocktail hour and head to the reception hall.”

The reception hall features a two-story bridal suite area. Upstairs, full-length mirrors and dressing areas offer plenty of natural light and comfortable seating.

“There’s a little coffee bar and mimosa stand downstairs, as well as hair and makeup areas,” says Kady Woods. “And upstairs is where the girls get ready.”

The reception hall has a large covered veranda with a section of artificial grass in front. The lawn is named after Stella, the owner’s dog.

“It’s really nice at cocktail hour or when people want to get away from a DJ or loud music,” says Woods. “You can sit outside and not get mud on your feet.”

Then there’s the groom’s area on the next level. Cody Jaeger has transformed a groom’s hut into a dreamy man cave.

“It was really important to him to have a place that would encourage people to show up at 10 a.m. when the rental starts,” Woods says. “They can hang out with friends and create memories that will last beyond the wedding reception.”

The apt name “Jaeger’s Cabin” says it all.

“I think that’s one of the things that makes us really unique,” says Woods. “Weddings in the past have usually been centered around the bride, and I think a lot of venues kind of overlook the man.”

A small putting green and a fishing pond right outside the cabin where fish can be caught and released provide additional benefits. Addison Woods works with Texas A&M Fisheries to maintain the pond’s ecosystem.

“It’s the ultimate man cave,” says Kady Woods. “They can watch golf, play sports, and some even bring a barber to do their hair.”

Wedding packages

Addison Woods offers curated, individually tailored packages, many of which are linked to partners in The Woodlands region.

“Now we only offer venue rentals, and then we have a basic package that gives you the most important services you need to host an event,” notes Kady Woods. “And then of course there’s everything in between. So we have it all.”

“We book through other providers based in Woodlands, Spring or North Houston – trusted people who we know have an excellent reputation in the market,” says Kady Woods.
