These San Antonio area school districts will not hold classes on Election Day

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – Numerous school districts throughout the San Antonio area will not have classes on Election Day.

Districts decided to give students Tuesday off because of concerns about school safety and elections.

“The decision to make Election Day a holiday for students and teachers was made with the safety of our students, staff and visitors in mind,” Northeast Independent School District officials said.

List of school districts that will not have classes on Election Day

  • Northside ISD: Student Holiday and Workforce Development Day

  • North East ISD: Student Holiday and Workforce Development Day

  • Judson ISD: Student Holiday and Workforce Development Day

  • East Central ISD: Employee and Student Leave

  • Southwest ISD: Student Holiday and Workforce Development Day

  • IDEA Public Schools: District vacation

Campus sites are typically used as polling places, meaning many people unaffiliated with the school will be on campus at the same time as students when districts decide to continue classes as on a regular school day.
