LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Rain and thunderstorm chances are the main forecast peaks for late Monday and into Monday night…with the possibility of a few strong thunderstorms with at times heavy rainfall…

Low pressure tracking across the Central Plains will bring parts of the country the best chance of precipitation in nearly a month on 10-11. While we do not expect all areas to experience widespread heavy rain, some of the thunderstorm activity will result in significant amounts of rain. The preferred areas for increased rainfall will be portions of southern Nebraska and northern Kansas. Expect rainfall amounts to fluctuate greatly in this weather configuration – even over short distances. As previously mentioned, isolated severe thunderstorms are possible at times throughout the evening, with the main threat being large hail and damaging winds. This system and associated precipitation threat should remain east of our area through Tuesday morning.
