The World Series: Dodgers vs. Yankees schedule begins Friday in Los Angeles

The Dodgers defeated the Mets in the National League Championship Series by winning Game 6 at Dodger Stadium on Sunday. This secured them a place in the World Series against the Yankees, which will begin on Friday at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.

It is the 12th Fall Classic meeting between the Dodgers and Yankees, by far the most productive of all postseason matchups. However, this will be the first meeting between these two teams since 1981. The Dodgers won the championship that season, but the Yankees have won eight of the previous 11 meetings. Since moving to Los Angeles, the Dodgers are 2-2 against New York in the World Series.

The Dodgers earned home-field advantage throughout the postseason by posting the best record in baseball with 98 wins. The Yankees won 94 games, the best record in the American League and the third-best record overall, with the Phillies’ 95 wins in between.

The Yankees defeated the Guardians in five games in the American League Championship Series to clinch the pennant Saturday night in Cleveland. It is New York’s first trip to the World Series since 2009.

During the regular season, the Dodgers won two of three games against the Yankees. They won a series at Yankee Stadium on June 7–9, a nine-RBI weekend for Teoscar Hernández that earned him National League Player of the Week honors.

The World Series is televised by Fox, with Joe Davis and John Smoltz attending every game along with field reporters Ken Rosenthal and Tom Verducci.
