The wind increases as the fall weather continues

Our fantastic autumn route leads through Green Country!

What is the forecast for today?

After another cold start, the return to southerly winds will usher in a quick warm-up for our Thursday. The afternoon hours will be great as highs settle around the 70 degree mark.

If you’re heading to Oktoberfest in Tulsa late in the day, the weather is ideal!

Fire hazard and burning ban:

Unfortunately, an increase in southerly winds will further increase the fire risk. Southerly winds gusting in excess of 20 mph would cause spark fires to spread fairly quickly, making it not an ideal afternoon for outdoor burning. Friday will see very similar wind and fire spread conditions with southeast winds gusting to at least 20 mph.

What is the forecast for the weekend?

There will be a steady warming trend through the weekend as we maintain the southerly wind component. We’ll reach the upper 70s again on Saturday and Sunday. So if you have outdoor plans, you’re in really good shape!

Unfortunately, any significant chance of rain is still very low. We will have at least a small chance of showers on Monday as a fast-moving storm system moves across our viewing area, although it is unlikely to bring good amounts of precipitation to eastern Oklahoma. We’re seeing signs of a further increase in significantly warmer temperatures next week, so enjoy the fall weather while we have it!
