The Utah Hockey Club scores a goal 18 seconds into the game in a 4-2 win over the St. Louis Blues

ST. LOUIS – Before Thursday’s game, Utah Hockey Club captain Clayton Keller had scored 29 points in 28 career games against the hometown Blues.

He only needed 18 seconds to continue this hot streak.

Keller’s backhand shot from the neutral zone was intercepted by Michael Kesselring, who was in a one-on-one situation. Kesslering dropped the puck and fired it into the net past St. Louis goaltender Joel Hofer, scoring the fastest goal in club history (of course, it’s a short story, but that mark could stand for a while).

This early result helped the Hockey Club to a 4-2 victory over the St. Louis Blues at the Enterprise Center. Utah improved to 6-5-3 with the win.

“I had so many memories here growing up and going to games with my dad and grandpa,” Keller said before the game. “These are things I really remember.”

Now that he’s playing against the Blues, he’s made a few more memories, including his NHL debut, which came shortly after the end of his college season at Boston University.

“We lost to Minnesota Duluth, and the next day I was in St. Louis making my debut the next day,” he said. “So it was pretty crazy. But we had a lot of family and friends here, and you couldn’t sum it up any better.”

He couldn’t have had a better start to Thursday’s game either. The same could probably be said about the ending.

Dylan Guenther scored the winning goal for Utah with an unassisted goal at 16:39 of the third period. And give his captain another memory.

“I’m always really excited to play here and every time I come back here I’m excited,” Keller said.

But just a little more excited when his team wins.
