The struggling Seahawks are trading for Jaguars defensive lineman Roy Robertson-Harris

The Seattle Seahawks made a trade to help a struggling defense.

Ian Rapoport reports that Seattle is sending a 2026 sixth-round pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars for defensive lineman Roy Robertson-Harris. This is Seattle’s second trade with the Jaguars this season after dealing a 2025 sixth-rounder for outside linebacker Trevis Gipson. With the Jaguars at 1-5 and seemingly in complete disarray, this could be a sign that Jacksonville will be the trade deadline seller in a losing season.

Robertson-Harris was signed by the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent in 2016 and eventually made it to Chicago’s defensive line in 2018. After remaining with the Bears in the second round in 2020, Robertson-Harris was lost to the season-ending sideline with a shoulder injury.

The 31-year-old signed a three-year contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2021, securing a starting role and recording at least three sacks and nine quarterback hits in his first three seasons. Robertson-Harris signed a three-year extension worth up to $30 million in the 2023 offseason, keeping him under contract through the 2026 season.

In six games, Robertson-Harris has recorded two sacks and four QB hits, but it’s worth noting that this was his first season under new defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen, who moved Jacksonville’s defense from a 3-4 base to a 4-3. Base surrounded.

The Seahawks already have 53 players, so a corresponding roster move will need to be made to bring RRH on board. This is a surprising move considering he is known more as an interior pass rusher than a run stopper. Most of his career snaps (including this season) have been for pass rushing. Unless Byron Murphy II has suffered a setback that we don’t know about, this could be more indicative of dissatisfaction with some of the other interior DL further down the depth chart.

Robertson-Harris was supposed to stay in London for the Jaguars’ next game against the New England Patriots, but now he will take a very long flight to Seattle before the Seahawks fly to Atlanta to play the Falcons.
