The star of “Coronation Street” shares wedding news weeks after leaving the soap and can be seen in the first sweet photo

Ciaran Griffiths from ‘Coronation Street’ has apparently married his partner and confirmed the news with a photo on social media. The 41-year-old actor, known for his role as Damon Hay, posted a picture of himself posing with his new wife on a boat in front of the Sydney Opera House.

Former Shameless star Ciaran, originally from Manchester and living in Australia with his new wife and son, has previously spoken about how difficult it is to be away from his family.

“It was hard the first time, but my son is a bit older now and understands more, so I don’t feel so bad about leaving him alone, even though I’m doing it for them anyway,” he said. “But the weather is terrible. I’m never sick in Australia, but when I come here I immediately get a cold.”

In 2019, he traveled to Australia for the first time for a theater production and met his current wife there, which prompted him to stay in the sunny country.

The unconfirmed wedding news comes after Ciaran left the soap after two years. His final scenes aired last month when Damon decided he needed to break up with Sarah and leave her family alone to protect them, reports the Mirror.

During the episode, Damon asks Sarah to visit him in prison and decides he needs to break up with her. As they sat together, he explained to her, “I don’t want you to do this because I asked you here to tell you to your face that we’re done. I’m doing you a huge favor. You turned my world upside down, but if I loved you, really loved you, I wouldn’t have done what I did. You have to go. I’m sorry, it’s my decision. Goodbye, Sarah.”

His character believed that the only way to protect Sarah was to cut all ties. After leaving the series, Ciaran hinted at a possible return in the future.

His character had expressed a desire to settle down on the streets, but outside factors keep thwarting those plans. “It’s what he wants, but it depends on what pressures he’s under or what he has to do to get by. He may want to settle down on the streets, but the question is, will he be allowed to settle down on the streets with his brother towering over him and Adam sitting on his back?”

“I don’t think it’s ever going to be easy for Damon. There’s always going to be someone out to get him, whether it’s Harvey or Adam,” he said earlier this year about Damon’s future on the soap opera.

Mirror Online has contacted the star’s representatives for comment.
