“Our task is precisely to maintain independence, apply the law and do the right thing, regardless of any political consequences,” he stressed. In his speech, he also distinguished between constructive criticism and attempts to destabilize institutions and emphasized the importance of maintaining the integrity of the justice system.

The chamber’s Constitutional and Justice Committee recently approved proposals aimed at limiting the power of judges, allowing the legislature to overturn court decisions and creating a new procedure for removing judges from office.

If these measures are approved, the STF will review their constitutionality, according to Dino.
