The Raiders are trading WR Davante Adams to the Jets for a conditional third-round pick

In his third Week 1 starting QB in as many years with Las Vegas, this time with Gardner Minshew, Adams was mostly mediocre in the Raiders’ first outing of the 2024 season, a five-catch, 59-yard performance. However, he reminded everyone what he was capable of in the club’s Week 2 comeback win over the Ravens, when he racked up nine catches, some of them the stunner, for 110 yards and a score to help Las Vegas win .

Then came an embarrassing loss at the hands of the Panthers, a team that had just benched 2023 No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young, seemingly causing the dominoes to tumble toward a divorce.

Pierce criticized players without naming names and pointed to some people who made “business decisions” during the loss.

While preparing to play against the Browns in Week 4, Adams suffered a multi-week hamstring injury on September 27. Las Vegas would emerge victorious without him, and the following Monday, October 1, Pierce appeared to like a social media post suggesting the WR had played his final snap as a Raider.

NFL Network Insider Mike Garafolo and Rapoport reported on October 2 that Adams had informed the team that he preferred to be traded that same Monday.

The suitors lined up and about two weeks passed. Adams’ desire to be traded reportedly included a preferred landing spot in New York, and he ultimately got what he wanted by following the points that so many others had already made for him there.

What the Jets want is for Adams to be the one who made defenders look silly again in Week 2, just like he did for most of his Rodgers tenure.

Given that it’s been about two and a half seasons since they last worked together, and Rodgers has torn his Achilles tendon and Adams is now a few months shy of turning 32, the same fireworks display between the two isn’t a certainty.

However, that will be New York’s expectation, and given their history, it would be unwise to discount them – or the Jets during an already tumultuous season in Gotham.
