The Pittsburgh Steelers’ star running back shines with a dominant performance in the victory

LAS VEGAS – Pittsburgh Steelers running back Najee Harris heard all the critics. In five games, Harris had just 3.3 yards per carry and had a disappointing 14 carries for 42 rushing yards against a struggling Dallas Cowboys defense. None of that mattered on Sunday, however, as Harris had his most efficient game of the season and one of the most efficient games of his entire NFL career.

Harris threw the rock 14 times for 106 yards and a touchdown, including a 36-yard rip on a throw he scored for the second-longest touchdown of his entire career. 68 of his 106 yards came after contact, and Harris had a career-high 63 rushing yards over expectations for the game.

“Well, I don’t know what he ate last night, I don’t know what he did, but he definitely brought a lot today,” quarterback Justin Fields said. “Whatever he did this week, hopefully he comes back and does the same thing next week.”

Harris took charge of the offense at times, giving them a breath of fresh air. Behind Harris’ outstanding performance, the Steelers set a season-high 183 rushing yards and 5.2 yards per carry.

Harris looked livelier than usual, scoring five explosive runs on the day. He has never made more explosive runs in a game than he did on Sunday.

But that doesn’t surprise Harris, especially since he has dominated every level of his competition from high school to college and now. Once given a little space, Harris could create magic out of nothing.

“I think that whenever anyone thinks they can do something, they can do it,” Harris said. “If I want to say I can jump from the free throw line like Michael Jordan did, you can jump from the free throw line. I don’t put any restrictions on what I do. Because I know what I can do. I don’t really care what other people say or think.

Harris has had to tune out the noise of all the criticism this year as the running game has stagnated. But in a 32-point win over the Raiders, Pittsburgh found the perfect balance to finally get the running game going.
