Millions of Americans could be affected by a $10 million meat recall affecting hundreds of products at major retailers, according to a newly released document.

BrucePac, an Oklahoma-based company, began recalling a total of 9,986,245 pounds of its ready-to-eat meat and poultry last week. The recall was triggered by fears of Listeria contamination.

Consumers who don’t know the company may think they’re in the dark – but the chicken has been distributed in hundreds of different products.

The USDA recently released a 326-page document of all products affected by the recall, listing hundreds of different items that may contain contaminated meat.

BrucePac distributes its ready-to-eat meat to a variety of grocery vendors, from 7-Eleven to Costco to Target and more.

For example, the recall includes El Monterey Mexican Grill Chicken and Cheese Taquitos with different batch codes and best-before dates.

Certain lots of frozen Trader Joe’s Chicken Chow Mein are also included, as are Good and Gather brand Chicken Tikka Masala products with lot number SO58227.

Only items with specific best-before dates or batch codes are affected. Consumers are urged to read the document and carefully review the list of recalled products.

The recall began after product testers at the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), which operates under the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), found that a BrucePac ready-to-eat chicken product tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes, the bacteria that causes listeria .

Listeria infection can be fatal to older Americans, pregnant women and consumers with weakened immune systems. Listeriosis patients may experience symptoms such as “fever, muscle pain, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and cramps, which are sometimes preceded by diarrhea or other gastrointestinal symptoms.” said the FSIS.

As of Monday, there have been no reports of illnesses or deaths caused by the recalled products – but authorities continue to urge consumers to check their refrigerators and freezers for recalled foods.

Consumers and retailers are also encouraged to check the FSIS website for future updates and, if necessary, return or destroy their recalled products. The recall page can be found here.
