The latest on five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood

The Wolverines EJ Holland discussed several recruiting topics for Michigan, including signing a five-star quarterback from LSU, on Tuesday’s edition of The Wolverine Live Bryce Underwood.

Underwood Recruiting

Michigan offered Underwood when he was still in middle school and gave him top priority before permanently withdrawing from recruiting last fall.

The Wolverines landed the Bishop Verot quarterback at On300 Fort Myers (Florida). Carter Smithwhile Underwood gave LSU a verbal commitment just a few months later.

Underwood chose LSU over offers from Michigan, Alabama, Penn State, Georgia, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, Texas and others and has been a solid Tigers ally ever since.

However, Michigan has recently started to bring Underwood more into the game and has a competitive NIL offer on the table. While Underwood has yet to take a recruiting visit to Michigan this fall, he and those around UM are listening.

Here’s what Holland had to say about the situation:

“Michigan’s push for Bryce Underwood is real,” Holland said. “Sherrone Moore personally recruits Underwood. There is a NIL group called Dave Portnoy that put together a package for Bryce Underwood and his family. LSU is ready to counter. But here, too, Michigan has already put together this package and is prepared to increase it in line with LSU’s performance. There are still some factors working in LSU’s favor. I think money will be the most important factor, but there are other factors he will consider. It is also important to note that Bryce will return to LSU for his official visit next weekend.”

Underwood is the nation’s top recruit in the On3 industry rankings.

Michigan has 17 commits in its 2025 recruiting class – five-star Overland Park (Canada) Blue Valley Northwest offensive tackle Andrew Babalola, top 100 Katy (Texas) Jordan wide receiver Andrew Marsh, top 100 Center Valley (Pa.)
