The Harris County Clerk’s Office is releasing details about what to expect during early voting for the November 5 election

HOUSTON – The Harris County Clerk’s Office held a press conference Thursday morning to provide important information about early voting for the upcoming Nov. 5 general and special elections.

Here’s everything you need to know to prepare:

Early voting period

  • Starts: Monday, October 21st

  • Ends: Friday, November 1st

  • Just: Most days from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Sunday, Oct. 27, from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.; 28-30 Oct. from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Oct. 31 extended opening hours 7 a.m. – 9 p.m

Voting locations

  • A total of 88 voting centers will be open during early voting.

  • On election day, voters are no longer required to vote in their precinct. You can vote at any center throughout the county.

Registered Voters

  • 2.68 million registered voters are eligible to vote in Harris County.

  • In the last election, 76% of voters cast their votes early.

Accessibility and education in voting

  • Harris County is committed to ensuring voters are informed and able to vote efficiently.

  • Lee Vela of Clear Channel Outdoor introduced two new digital billboards designed to help educate voters across the county.

  • A new Harris County Elections Headquarters is the base for operations, including a call center for voter inquiries.

Election staff

  • Harris County is working around the clock to recruit and train poll workers and is targeting 700 election judges.
