The Hangout Fest will not take place this year

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Country musician Morgan Wallen just released a video announcing that he will be traveling to the white sand beaches of Gulf Shores in May 2025 for a three-day music festival called Sand In My Boots.

Public relations director Emily Diament described it as a unique festival with a lineup featuring some of Wallen’s closest friends, favorite artists and people he’s always wanted to perform with.

Diament told us that Wallen had a vision for this festival and wanted to bring it to life.

He felt that the producers and on-site staff at Hangout Fest had the perfect venue and team to make it happen.

She described it as “a match made in heaven.”

Diament said this means the traditional hangout music festival will not take place.

Kylie Scioneaux wasn’t happy about the news.

Since 2018, she has been attending Hangout Fest with her friends every year, not only as a fan but also as a photographer.

“I feel like Hangout Fest was a bit of a break from the country for us,” she said. “It was kind of an escape to hear different genres and a different vibe. And I feel like that’s what Hangout Fest was always about.”

She said when it comes to country music, the South has a lot to offer, but for other genres there aren’t as many options.

Scioneaux said she plans to go to the Sand In My Boots festival but isn’t sure what to expect.

“I’m not so sure what it’s going to be like next year,” she said.

Beth Gendler, president and CEO of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach Tourism, released a statement saying the city looks forward to welcoming visitors to its beaches in May for this unique musical experience.

Ticket details have been shared with us and the full line-up will be announced soon.
