The Guardians game will have a new TV home in 2025 after DSG drops its teams

The Cleveland Guardians could be looking for a new television home next season.

The Guardians were one of 11 MLB clubs cut from the 2025 season by Diamond Sports Group, Bally Sports’ parent company, it was announced Wednesday.

Diamond, which filed for bankruptcy in March 2023, only had a contract with the Guardians through the end of this regular season.

Diamond is not extending the contracts of the Milwaukee Brewers, Minnesota Twins and Texas Rangers. Seven other teams – the Cincinnati Reds, Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals, Los Angeles Angels, Miami Marlins, St. Louis Cardinals and Tampa Bay Rays – had contracts through 2025 and must either negotiate a new contract or find another television operator.

Diamond will be the only baseball partnership to continue broadcasting Atlanta Braves games.

“We have no information about what is being done,” MLB lawyer Jim Bromley said at a hearing Wednesday. “We have not had the opportunity to review and now we are in court being asked to give our comments.”

According to a report in the Cincinnati Enquirer, a rival executive suggested that teams with Diamond/Bally partnerships could face a 20% drop in revenue.

When contacted on Wednesday afternoon, the Guardians declined to comment on the matter through a team spokesperson.
