The Guardians face the Yankees in the deciding Game 5

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – The Guardians and Yankees meet at Progressive Field in what could be the last game of the year. New York leads the ALCS 3-1 and looks to wrap up the series here in Cleveland.

Why should Guardians fans feel good about this night? Two things come to mind.

Tanner Bibee is on the hill. He didn’t get off to a good start in Game 2, but is clearly their best starting player. You should get more and more comfortable with this guy on the mound. When Bibee is at his best, he can pitch to anyone.

Another reason is the way this team has responded to adversity throughout the year. I don’t expect them to win the series, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they won tonight. They are good and shake off what happened the day before.

Unfortunately, there are numerous reasons for not feeling well at night.

Carlos Rodon is on the mound for the Yankees. He dominated them in Game 1 and has done so throughout his career.

And as good as Bibee can be, we haven’t seen that in these playoffs. He still has five innings to go.

The Guardians’ vaunted bullpen is also showing signs of wear and tear. Aside from Emmanuel Clase’s obvious issues, Cade Smith was patched up in Game 4. Tim Herrin was not against right-handed hitters in these playoffs.

8:08 a.m. first pitch from Progressive Field, for the Guardians it’s win or go home for the winter.
