Women’s football

Thursday – at UNC Greensboro (5:00 p.m. MT, ESPN+)

Sunday – at North Carolina State (5:00 p.m. MT, ACC Network)

NOTES: The Buffs (3-1) completed their season-opening four-game home series with a 2-0 win over Michigan on Sunday. It was the 300th NCAA victory for head coach Danny Sanchez. … The win against the Wolverines was the 14th at CU for goalie Jordan Nytes, moving the junior into eighth place in program history. … The Buffs have never played UNC Greensboro (0-1-1), which opened the season with a 1-1 tie at UNC Wilmington before suffering a 2-1 loss to East Carolina last week. … The Spartans are playing their first season under new head coach Stefani Workman, who has been on UNCG’s staff for the past six seasons. … The Buffs have scored five of their 12 goals on set pieces. Seven different players scored goals for CU, led by Shyra James with four and Hope Leyba with three. … CU and NC State have met only once before. The Buffs earned a 2-1 home victory last year thanks to two goals from James. … The Buffs return home next week to host Denver in a rivalry game on Sept. 5.

Women’s volleyball

Friday – in North Texas (North Texas Invitational, 6:00 p.m. MT, ESPN+)

Saturday – vs. Miami, Florida (North Texas Invitational, 2:00 p.m. MT, ESPN+)

Sunday – vs. Rutgers (North Texas Invitational, 11 a.m. MT)

NOTES: The Buffaloes begin the ninth season under head coach Jesse Mahoney with three games at the North Texas Invitational. … Veteran setter Taylor Simpson needs 21 assists to reach 2,000 in her career and four blocks to reach 100 in the opening weekend. … Mahoney said newly signed Sarah Morton will likely start as libero. Morton led Auburn last year with 316 digs in 24 games. … CU’s Ana Burilovic (Croatia) and freshman Maria Splawska (Poland) only returned to the team last week after missing the start of training camp while competing in the U20 European Championship. … The Buffs have played North Texas just once, sweeping the Mean Green at home last year. CU has never played Miami (Florida) and has only played Rutgers once, when they won a four-set match in Syracuse, N.Y. in 2013… CU returns home next week to host the Buffs Classic, which includes games against Georgia, Fresno State and former Pac-12 rival Washington.

Cross country

Friday – at the Wyoming Invitational

NOTES: This will be the first meet in more than 30 years that CU will not be coached by Mark Wetmore, as new coach Sean Carlson makes his debut with the Buffs. … Carlson recently rounded out his distance coaching staff, adding Dalton Hengst as an assistant coach. Hengst ran for Carlson as a senior at Tennessee and then joined Carlson’s staff for the Volunteers last year. Kate Mattison, who also worked with Carlson at Tennessee, was introduced as CU’s other assistant coach earlier this month. Carlson is also bringing in former Buffs star player and Olympic steeplechase runner Valerie Constien as a volunteer assistant. … In addition to Wyoming, Colorado State, Northern Colorado and Central Wyoming will also compete Friday. … The women’s race at the Wyoming Invitational begins at 9 a.m., with the men following at 9:30 a.m.
