The Coffee County Emergency Management Agency is providing an update on current recovery efforts

COFFEE COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) – The Coffee County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) addressed recovery efforts following the damage caused by Hurricane Helene.

In a Facebook Live on Sunday afternoon, EMA Director Steve Carver said recovery efforts were going “pretty well.”

Since recovery efforts began, the Coffee County Fire Department, along with faith-based organizations, has been distributing food and other items to everyone affected by the storm.

In recent days, distribution points have been set up across the county where people can pick up food and necessary items, he said.

The EMA is also distributing water from a 3,000-gallon tanker truck with bottled water that is safe for human consumption as long as it is boiled, some tarps and other items for distribution. According to Director Carver, they can fill anything with water, from small containers like milk jugs to larger containers for animals and livestock.

On Monday, October 7th, the tanker will be set up at the following locations and times:

  • Ricky’s Food Mart on Highway 32 East from 9-10:30 a.m
  • Old Columbus Road and Candlelight Lane in the Bridgetown Community in Willachoochee from noon to 1:30 p.m
  • Forest Hills Get off Highway 158 West in Douglas from 2:15 p.m. to 4 p.m

To arrange a scheduled visit to a specific area, call (912) 389-1705.

“I want to thank everyone who came to our aid,” said Director Carver.
