Texas A&M vs. Mississippi State score updates

It wasn’t clean by any means, but the Aggies were able to pick up more late into the night, adding three more points to give them more room to play as they try to finish off the Bulldogs. Bond hit the ball through the uprights from 44 yards, giving A&M a 34-24 lead.

Weigman had been flirting with several interceptions throughout the evening, already throwing one and dropping two early in the third quarter. However, it caught up with him early in the fourth quarter when he threw his second interception of the game, bringing the Bulldogs to the Aggies’ 12-yard line. Three plays later, Mississippi State cashed in with a 12-yard touchdown pass, extending the lead to 31-24.

Aided by the strange decision to perform a fake punt in their own territory, the Aggies were given a small field for their second offensive attack of the second half and scored a touchdown. A&M needed four plays to score, and the possession ended with Moss scoring his second touchdown of the afternoon from three yards out, 31-17.

The Aggies came out of the break and completely turned the clock of possession around with a drive that took up half the third quarter. The 17-play, 64-yard drive lasted 7:46, and A&M added three scores from 28 yards out by Randy Bond to extend its lead to 24-17.

Many thought the Aggies would find a way to pull out a win against a one-win team, but the Bulldogs gave them everything they could in the first half. As the half came to a close, the Bulldogs orchestrated an eight-play, 75-yard drive that ended with a four-yard touchdown reception by Mario Carver, extending the lead to 21-17.

The Aggies faced fourth-and-3 in Bulldogs territory and a field goal was deemed to follow. Instead, A&M stayed on the field and created more possession through defensive pass interference. One play later, Amari Daniels takes a handoff up the middle and scores from six yards out to extend the lead to 21-10.

Mississippi State came out on top with 87 total rushing yards on the ground and was able to find good plays early against A&M. Using both means, the Bulldogs advanced down the field and hit a three-pointer from 24 yards on their final possession, shrinking the Aggies’ lead to 14-10.

After being six-for-six so far on third down, the Aggies were able to march down the field for a seven-play, 81-yard drive capped by a nine-yard touchdown from Le’Veon Moss, up 14-7.

After watching their defense give up a touchdown on the first drive, the Aggies’ offense came into action and pulled off a well-orchestrated drive to tie the game at 7-7. A 13-play, 74-yard drive ended with quarterback Conner Weigman hitting wide receiver Noah Thomas from 20 yards out in the right corner of the end zone.

The opening drive of the game couldn’t have gone better for the Bulldogs, as the opening drive went 12 plays and 92 yards, capped by a 14-yard touchdown pass from Michael Van Buren Jr. to running back Davon Booth A touchdown pass gave them an early 7-0 lead.

Texas A&M vs. Mississippi State predictions

Tony Catalina: Texas A&M 30, Mississippi State 17. The Aggies have proven this season that they can be trusted, even while accepting the possibility of a slow start after the break. They’ve gotten better each week under Coach Elko, and while the Bulldogs are a team they’ve struggled with on the road (2-4 at Starkville in their last six games), they should be confident they can get the job done can this week.

Cedric Golden: Texas A&M 24, Mississippi State 20. The Aggies played their most complete game in years with the loss to Missouri, but can’t afford to overlook the Tigers, who gave Georgia quite a matchup last week. The road problems are well documented, but I’ll take Mike Elko’s Aggies over the cowbells, with the defense making a late stop to prevent the surprise move.
