Tesla hires employees for its planned diner and drive-in cinema in Los Angeles

Tesla has started hiring for a drive-in restaurant it plans to open in Los Angeles.

According to a job posting on LinkedIn, the electric vehicle manufacturer is looking for a “Diner Experience Specialist” to help oversee the concept, including the menu and cinema programming. The salary is said to be a maximum of $285,000.

In 2018, Elon Musk announced on social media that he would open an “old school drive-in, roller skating and rock restaurant” at one of the new Tesla Supercharger locations in LA, featuring an outdoor screen showing “the best scenes in film history.”

Three years later, Tesla filed trademark claims in the restaurant industry.

In 2023, the LA Department of Building and Safety approved the company’s application to establish a diner/drive-in/Tesla Supercharger and received permits to begin construction on West Santa Monica Boulevard.

In August of that year, Musk said the restaurant would be ready by the end of 2023 and it would be a sort of “Grease meets the Jetsons.”

The facility, which is still under construction, will have 32 charging stations and a two-story design with a rooftop terrace.

The LA hub will join Tesla’s network of over 50,000 Supercharger stations.

In recent months, Musk’s name has been in the news less because of Tesla and more because of his growing support for Donald Trump.

On Monday, the X owner interviewed the former president.

During the conversation, after initial technical problems, Trump returned to the typical campaign themes about immigration and boasted about his “great relationships” with the dictators of the world.

Tesla may not be making headlines, but it does have its own problems.

Last month, the company reported a 45 percent drop in second-quarter profits.
