Tennessee Volunteers vs. Arkansas Final Thoughts

A final breakdown of the Tennessee-Arkansas game.

The Tennessee Volunteers face their second conference opponent of the season on Saturday when they travel to the Arkansas Razorbacks. The Volunteers have been a major surprise of the college football season and remain an undefeated team in week six. Tennessee is a huge favorite this season, but Arkansas has proven that they are no walk in the park this season.

The biggest factor for Tennessee in this game is whether they can maintain their success on the ground. Arkansas has defended well against the run this season, but the Volunteers also present a unique challenge in doing so. Given Tennessee’s wide offense, the Razorbacks must commit to stopping the run with light boxes and no safeties. If they can’t do that, Tennessee has everything at their disposal.

The Razorbacks have also found a way to make their offense explosive by using quarterback Taylen Green. Whether it’s throwing the ball or running it, Green has added an exciting element to Arkansas’ offense. He tends to play hero ball a bit. So if Tennessee can capitalize on that and force some mistakes, they’ll be in good shape.

Overall, looking at the matchup, Tennessee should do well in this game and start next week with another win. It’s another important week to see Nico Iamaleava playing on an SEC team and also being on the road again. A good matchup to build on and gain a bit more confidence before the schedule really gets going.
