Target competitors Aldi and Walmart with a cheap Thanksgiving deal

To lure price-conscious shoppers, Target (TGT+0.49%) is launching its cheapest Thanksgiving meal yet for just under $20 – $5 less than last year.

This strategic pricing puts Target in direct competition with Walmart (WMT+0.39%) And Aldiwhich offer festive packages for around $57 and $47 respectively.

Target’s Thanksgiving offering serves four people but “easily doubles to eight people” and includes all the essential ingredients for a traditional dinner, including a heavy turkey (up to 10 pounds), stuffing mix, gravy, russet potatoes, greens Beans and cranberry sauce. Plus, sides like cheddar mac and cranberry goat cheese and desserts like apple and pumpkin pie cost less than $5.

Target Executive Vice President Rick Gomez emphasized the company’s goal of providing quality and value to shoppers during the holiday season. “Thanksgiving and smaller moments during the holidays are where Target shines the most,” he explained.

Earlier this month, Target announced price cuts for over 2,000 items under our own and national brandsincluding food, drinks, Christmas gifts and everyday items. Notable discounts include Crisco (BGS+4.14%) Vegetable Oil and the Magic Bullet Personal Blender Set.

During this time, Gomez also emphasized the retailer’s goal of providing “exceptional value,” citing plans to reduce prices on over 10,000 items through the end of the holiday season. In May, Target made headlines by cutting prices on 5,000 products, leading to a surge in sales when the company reported its quarterly results three months later.

In preparation for the holiday season, Goal said in September that it would be so Hire 100,000 seasonal workers Primarily for storefront duties, with some focused on supply chain operations to assist with order pickup and fulfillment.
