Today’s Xbox Partner Showcase gave us a look at Subnautica 2 – the third game in the Subnautica series, of course. The new, direct sequel is scheduled to enter Early Access in 2025 and is finally answering fans’ prayers by adding a multiplayer mode.

Subnautica 2’s short trailer appears to consist entirely of cinematics, but it sets the tone for the new game by showing a brief glimpse of a colorful, inviting coral reef dive, followed by the most terrifying deep-sea encounter imaginable can imagine. The big appeal here is that we see multiple characters working together, a clear example of the long-awaited addition of cooperative multiplayer for up to four players.
