The storms will form along a cold front moving eastward. The greatest risk for tornadoes is in Minnesota, including Minneapolis, the FOX Forecast Center said.

NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center said isolated severe thunderstorms were also possible in Iowa and western Wisconsin. Damaging winds in excess of 60 mph and hail could also occur in parts of eastern Kansas, southwest Missouri and northeast Oklahoma.

“We’re at Level 2 of 5, and that’s from Duluth down to Kansas City,” said Craig Herrera, meteorologist at FOX Weather.

More severe storms are not what Minnesota residents want after two destructive waves of storms hit the state on August 26 and 29. No fewer than 11 tornadoes hit the state, where an average of only eight occur in August. In addition, there were over 100 reports of destructive winds.
