The NSE Nifty50 index closed 20.5 points lower at 24347.0, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed 56.99 points lower at 79648.92.

Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (up 2.64%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (up 2.01%), Axis Bank Ltd. (up 1.89%), Infosys Ltd. (up 1.51%), JSW Steel Ltd. (up 1.36%), Divi’s Laboratories Ltd. (up 1.27%), Hindalco Industries Ltd. (up 1.04%), Tata Motors Ltd. (up 0.76%), Cipla Ltd. (up 0.74%) and Shriram Finance Ltd. (up 0.61%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack. On the other hand, NTPC Ltd. (down 2.39%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (down 2.12%), Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd. (down 1.82%), Britannia Industries Ltd. closed lower. (down 1.65%), State Bank of India (down 1.42%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (down 1.41%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd. (down 1.3%), Tata Consumer Products Ltd. (minus 1.3%), Nestle India Ltd. (down 1.27%) and SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd. (minus 1.17%) in the red.
