The Pittsburgh Steelers went into halftime with a 10-0 lead against the Denver Broncos, thanks to tight end Darnell Washington’s first NFL touchdown and a short field goal scored by kicker Chris Boswell to end the half.

Denver is probably lucky to only be down 10 points after two very questionable decisions against the Steelers on the team’s final drives of the half. Offensive tackle Broderick Jones was assessed three penalties in a single draft, the last of which was a very tricky tackle hold that ruined a great reception by wide receiver George Pickens.

On the Steelers’ final drive, wide receiver Van Jefferson was called back for an interception, invalidating a touchdown catch by Pickens that looked no different than a play every team in the NFL runs multiple times per game without the referees’ attention.

The Steelers’ defense was masterful in the first half. Broncos quarterback Bo Nix managed just 39 passing yards and Denver’s best runner is running back Tyler Badie, who rushed for 16 yards. Outside linebackers TJ Watt and Alex Highsmith each had a sack in the first half.
