In a boys soccer game shown on WRBI on Saturday, Batesville beat Franklin County 5-1. Talen Rowlett scored a hat trick for the Bulldogs, who remain undefeated this season.

Oldenburg Academy defeated Jac-Cen-Del 8-1. Jacob Hilbert and Conner Holder both scored hat tricks for the Twisters. Hayden Blair and Henry Wanstrath added goals for OA. The Eagles avoided the shutout with a last-minute goal from Conner Yeggy.

The Batesville boys tennis team took first and second place at the Shelbyville Invitational on Saturday. The Bulldogs finished third out of four teams. Also competing were Greensburg, Indianapolis Bishop Chatard and the host Golden Bears.

The Greensburg girls’ cross country team won the seven-team Lou Knoble Invitational in Madison on Saturday. Madeline Risher of the Pirates was the girls’ individual champion. The Greensburg boys’ team finished second, just five points behind the host Cubs. Jackson Tekulve of the Pirates led from start to finish and was crowned the boys’ individual champion.

The East Central women’s golfers finished fourth at the New Palestine Invitational on Saturday, while the Trojans’ Rowan Pies shot a 70 to secure the medal.

The Pirates beat the Reds 4-3 in Pittsburgh yesterday. Yasmani Grandal’s two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning off Reds closer Alexis Diaz was the deciding factor for the Pirates, who won three of four games in the weekend series. Diaz was left to agonize over the loss while former Red Aroldis Chapman came in as a reliever to earn the win. The Reds have today off before returning home tomorrow night to begin a three-game interleague series against the Oakland Athletics.

Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase practiced over the weekend and appears to have completed his hold-in. Multiple media outlets are reporting that Chase has been a full participant in practice and is expected to practice all week. Chase has been on a hold-in during Bengals training camp while looking for a new contract, and his rookie contract is still expiring.

In the WNBA, the Minnesota Lynx beat the Indiana Fever 90-80 in Minneapolis on Saturday night. Caitlin Clark led the Fever with 23 points and eight assists.

In the auto race, Will Power led from start to finish to win Sunday’s IndyCar race at Portland International Raceway. Power now trails championship leader Alex Palou by 54 points with three races left in the season. Palou finished second on Sunday.

Harrison Burton took the checkered flag in Saturday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Daytona International Speedway. It was Burton’s first victory in the Cup Series.

Lake Mary, Florida, defeated Taiwan 2-1 in 8 innings to claim the Little League World Series title.
