Spencer Rattler’s debut impressed New Orleans Saints legend Drew Brees

What did Drew Brees see when he watched Spencer Rattler make his NFL debut? Exactly what Brees expected from the New Orleans Saints rookie: “A guy who plays with a lot of confidence and can make all the throws.”

Rattler was impressive. His mobility and arm talent were on full display against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He performed well in the first half, although he was without Chris Olave after the third move. This will also be the case against the Denver Broncos.

However, not everything was perfect for Rattler. The rookie threw two interceptions in the second half. Brees attributes this in part to taking unusual risks while catching up. That goes for Rattler’s second choice.

In general, Brees understands that mistakes are part of the learning process for young players. “You have to make some of those mistakes and work through them like any young player does.”

In his NFL debut, Rattler accomplished what fans wanted to see. He showed potential for the future. This week is about building on the foundation from last week.
