Spectrum offers new dates for full internet restoration in Upstate SC

The promise to restore power to all areas of South Carolina by Oct. 16 has been extended as more than 31,000 Spectrum customers in the Upstate are still without service at the end of the workday Wednesday evening.

As of 5:30 p.m., customers without electricity totals include Greenville with 14,557, Spartanburg with 10,410, Anderson with 3,553, Pickens with 1,558 and Laurens with 1,272.

In response to the delay, Spectrum announced a new network restoration date of Oct. 21, according to Scott Pryzwansky, senior director of the Mid-South region at Charter Communications.

According to Spectrum’s website updates, internet could be restored even sooner in some areas. For Laurens, the expected restoration date is Oct. 18, Spartanburg could have internet back on Oct. 20, and Greenville, Anderson and Pickens have a scheduled service restoration date of Oct. 21.

“We continue to make progress and have completed repairs to our network in all but five counties in South Carolina,” Pryzwansky said. “Some repairs are taking longer than we initially expected due to the extensive damage, the time it took to safely access the most affected areas and the need for additional repairs to be carried out on site following construction work.”

He added that additional work may still be required to restore service to a single location. However, Spectrum asks to be notified if a customer’s service is not restored by October 21 so that the team can address any remaining issues.

Any downed cable lines identified should be reported on Spectrum.net. For more updates, visit Spectrum.net/Helene.
