South Florida voters take advantage of early voting for ‘one of the most important elections of our time’

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. — Since early voting began on Oct. 21, hundreds of thousands of people across South Florida have turned out to vote in the general election.

On Sunday in Pembroke Pines, the passion for this election was alive.

“Vote and I’ll do the splits,” one woman told people outside a polling station.

Early voters in Broward County were greeted by throngs of candidate supporters.

“We have to cast our vote today,” said one voter, Andrew Facey.

He and others stopped by one of the Pembroke Pines precincts on Sunday to cast their votes.

“To take advantage of the shorter waiting time; Today the queue had to wait for about an hour,” said Ramro Malaogn. “I think we have a lot of participants in this election. I think it’s one of the most important elections of our time.”

Broward had registered more than 183,000 early voters as of Sunday.

In Miami Dade, nearly 264,000 people have already voted.

“This is really encouraging,” said voter Dorothy Pennicook. “I waited an hour, but I would wait six hours.”

It is this passion that has led many to vote early, with just nine days until the election.

“As they say, there’s a lot at stake,” Paul Pennicook said.

Early voting runs through November 3rd from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m

The general election will take place on Tuesday, November 5th.
