Source – Browns’ Chubb is scheduled to return in Week 7 against the Bengals

Browns running back Nick Chubb is expected to make his season debut against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 7 in Cleveland, completing his return from a serious left knee injury that required two surgeries last year, a source told ESPN.

Chubb, who was on the physically unable to perform list at the start of the season, has been practicing for the past two weeks but was ruled out for the Browns’ Week 6 game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. However, Chubb increased his training load this week as part of his natural training progression.

“I think he continues to build every day,” Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said Friday. “I think he does a good job on the scout team, he does a good job getting some reps on offense. So he continues to build every day.”

Chubb, who turns 29 in December, suffered the season-ending knee injury on “Monday Night Football” against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2 of the 2023 season. In late September, he underwent initial surgery to repair his medial capsule, meniscus and MCL. A second operation repaired the damage to his cruciate ligament in November.

Chubb also suffered a torn left MCL, PCL and LCL while attending the University of Georgia in 2015.

Chubb, a four-time Pro Bowl selection, had rushed for 1,000 yards in four consecutive seasons prior to 2023, including a career-high 1,525 in 2022.

Cleveland.com first reported Chubb’s expected return in Week 7.
