Social reactions in Oklahoma to Sooner’s terrible first game against South Carolina

The Oklahoma Sooners played as terrible a first half as a football team can play, leading the South Carolina Gamecocks 32-3.

Turnovers, poor defense, dropped passes, no opportunity to throw and defensive mistakes made this game at home a laugh for the Sooners. Michael Hawkins turned the ball over on Oklahoma’s first three possessions with two interceptions and a fumble. The Gamecocks returned two of them for points and the route was open.

Then Jackson Arnold came in to replace Hawkins, and while the offense moved the ball a bit, the ineffectiveness of the offensive line against a good South Carolina team ultimately led to sacks at the end of the drive.

The Sooners are simply outclassed in every aspect of the game. Shane Beamer is absolutely superior to Brent Venables. His team was better prepared, more intense and at a much higher level.

The crime is not just about execution. The talent isn’t there and the plan isn’t doing them any favors. OU’s offensive staff simply doesn’t have the answers.

At this point, it’s pretty clear that the Sooners are not ready for the SEC and have some big decisions to make in the near future. At this point, it’s not about whether the Sooners lose; It depends on how much they lose.

Here’s how Oklahoma fans and media reacted to the Sooners’ terrible first-half performance.

Time to change something

Unreal

Catastrophic

And it never got better

Nothing is going right

Runs it up

At this point there is no reason to continue

Do they have what it takes to bring about change?
