SMS warning about roadworks at the Las Vegas Grand Prix launched before race preparations | Formula 1 | Sport

Clark County and the Las Vegas Grand Prix are once again partnering to set up a text hotline to inform motorists of the latest roadwork related to track preparation and dismantling for this year’s race.

The SMS update system will inform those who sign up of the latest works and associated road restrictions when race preparations begin on September 1, the Grand Prix and county announced on Wednesday.

Anyone wishing to sign up can text F1LV to 31996 to enroll. Once added to the database, users will receive SMS updates every Sunday and Wednesday on the latest work schedule. Additional messages will also be sent to officers via SMS during the week as needed. The program is available in both English and Spanish.

In addition to the SMS service, an interactive website will go live at the Las Vegas Grand Prix next week where drivers can view race-related construction schedules to help plan their daily trips around potential traffic black spots.

This year’s Las Vegas Grand Prix is scheduled to take place November 21-23 on the same 4-mile course, which runs mostly on public roads and leads to Las Vegas Boulevard, Koval Lane and Sands and Harmon Avenues.

The infrastructure work related to this year’s race is scheduled to take place between September and the end of December, a compressed timetable compared to the nine-month interruption for last year’s inaugural race.

The work is scheduled to be done in sections, starting at the intersection of Harmon and Las Vegas Boulevard and moving counterclockwise around the racetrack. Most impacts to the roads are planned for overnight, aside from the complete closure of the intersection of Flamingo Road and Koval as workers build a temporary bridge. The Flamingo Bridge this year will be half the size of the structure used last year to minimize impacts to neighboring businesses.
