Shots fired near McLane High School in Fresno, suspect arrested

Authorities responded to a report of shots fired near an AutoZone store at the intersection of Clinton and Cedar Avenues Wednesday afternoon. The call came in around 3:40 p.m., but when officers arrived, they found no gunshot victims at the scene.

Authorities said the incident stemmed from an altercation between a large group of students from nearby McLane High School. During the altercation, a gun was pulled and several shots were fired, causing the crowd to disperse. Bullets struck a parked vehicle and a building, but no injuries were reported.

Witnesses at the scene gave officers descriptions of the people involved, including the suspected shooter. Approximately 30 minutes after the shooting, officers arrested a person matching the description of the shooter. Investigators are continuing to follow up on leads and are searching the area for other possible participants.
