Shohei Ohtani boos as Mets fans welcome him to New York

Shohei Ohtani appeared to enjoy the boos rained down on him by Mets fans during the pregame introductions before Game 3 of the NLCS on Wednesday night at Citi Field.

The Dodgers superstar and likely NL MVP joined in on the fun as he ran toward his coaches and teammates lined up along the third base line, mimicking the fans’ boos with a smile on his face.

There was a lot of excitement at Citi Field before the first pitch, with the crowd cheering loudly for the Mets at their introduction and giving a loud ovation when Darryl Strawberry threw the ceremonial first pitch to Doc Gooden.

30-year-old leadoff hitter Ohtani started the game with a groundout on Luis Severino’s first pitch.
