SheSays launches campaign to redesign the future of work

SheSays, the nonprofit organization that advocates for gender equality in the creative industries, has launched a new campaign to drive a more inclusive future of work.

The organisation has partnered with the JCDecaux Community Channel to launch a nationwide outdoor and social campaign calling on the industry to “reimagine the future”.

The initiative aims to galvanise the creative industry to work together to create a more inclusive future of work that better meets the needs of women and non-binary people. The move comes at a crucial time for the industry, as agencies continue to implement draconian return-to-office regulations – a one-size-fits-all approach that has been normalised by the continued framing of hybrid work as a ‘problem’ to be solved, rather than an opportunity to attract and retain more diverse talent.

In the wake of this increasingly heated debate about the future of work, SheSays’ creative campaign raises a different set of questions. Questions that feel like a breath of fresh air.

The creative implementations each represent a gap that the audience must fill. These include: “Flexible work will _____________ for women.” “If we ______________, we can break the glass ceiling.” and “The best bosses will be those who ________.”

Displayed on colorful post-its, the messages are a powerful reminder that we need to broaden our perspectives when discussing the future of work.

Post-its symbolize the work needed to shape the future of the industry. Bent corners of the sticky notes indicate the importance of the issue and serve as a reminder that the target audience should keep coming back to the topic, just like marking an important page in a book.

The campaign’s slogan, “The future is what we make of it,” encourages everyone to “have their say at reworkthefuture.com” by completing a questionnaire on the fundamental changes needed to create a better working environment.

The data collected will feed into a manifesto for change that SheSays plans to deliver to companies at the end of September. SheSays hopes this manifesto will highlight pressing issues and serve as a guide for actionable improvements to workplace policies.
