Speaking to IANS, Shatrughan Sinha addressed the marriage and said, “It is a matter of marriage. Secondly, it is neither illegal nor unconstitutional if the children have married. They have done it of their own free will and with our blessings. So I appreciate it.”
The veteran actor further explained his stance and expressed his pride and happiness over his daughter’s decision. “Who will stand by my daughter if I don’t?” he asked rhetorically. Shatrughan also mentioned that he and wife Poonam Sinha were fully involved in the celebration of the union and showed their full support of the marriage. “It’s about their happiness,” he added, making it clear that their main focus is their children’s happiness. Describing Sonakshi and Zaheer as “made for each other,” Shatrughan shared his joy for the couple. He expressed his belief that the ultimate goal of every parent is to see their children happy and fulfilled in their personal lives. “Parents will always stand for their children’s happiness and I believe our children are happy. I call them made for each other and we are very happy for them,” he noted
Sonakshi and Zaheer tied the knot in a civil ceremony on June 23, thus starting their life together as a married couple. The wedding was an intimate affair, followed by a glamorous party at Shilpa Shetty’s upscale restaurant Bastian, where the couple celebrated with close friends and family. Last month, Shatrughan had publicly described Sonakshi and Zaheer as a perfect couple, reiterating his supportive stance.
