EAST LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – Homecoming week is underway in East Lansing. The festivities can be watched on TV-10, while WILX News 10+ will broadcast the MSU homecoming parade Friday night and the MSU football game Saturday night against Iowa can be seen on TV-10. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m

The city of East Lansing, along with Michigan State University, will close several streets Friday for the annual homecoming parade. MSU says reopening times are approximate as streets will reopen once the last parade unit has passed.

Road closures on the MSU campus

Closing time from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m

• Abbot Rd between Grand River Ave and West Circle Dr

Closed from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m

• Farm Ln between Grand River Ave and Shaw Ln

Note from MSU: Barricades will be erected at Collingwood Dr and Auditorium Road blocking traffic on Farm Ln.

• N Shaw Ln between Bogue St and Red Cedar Rd

Note from MSU: The only vehicles permitted on N Shaw Lane past Bogue Street are buses for the parade and vehicles parked on Shaw Lane Ramp/Ramp 1/Lot 51.

• S Shaw Ln between Red Cedar Rd and Farm Ln
• Science Road

East Lansing Street closure

Closed from 2:30 p.m. to 7 p.m

• Abbot Rd between Saginaw St and Burcham Dr
• Centerlawn Ave between Forest St and Abbot Rd
• Northlawn St between Forest St and Abbot Rd
• Evergreen Ave between Centerlawn Ave and Northlawn St
• Forest St between Centerlawn Ave and Northlawn St
• Fern St between Abbot Rd and Evergreen Ave
• Burcham Dr between Old Hickory Ln and Abbot Rd

Closed from 5:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m

• Abbot Rd between Burcham Dr and Grand River Ave
• Grand River Ave between Harrison Rd and Abbot Rd
• Michigan Ave between Harrison Rd and Grand River Ave
• Grand River Ave between Hagadorn Rd and Collingwood Dr/Farm Ln

Closed from 5:45 p.m. to 7:15 p.m

• Grand River Ave between Abbot Rd and Collingwood Dr/Farm Ln

MSU said eastbound and westbound drivers should take Saginaw Street and northbound and southbound traffic are advised to take Harrison Road or Hagadorn Road.

Other parade-related closures

• The Hannah Community Center and parking lot will be closed at noon
• The East Lansing Public Library closes at 2:30 p.m

The parade begins at 6 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Abbott Road and Burcham Drive and ends at Farm Lane around 7:15 p.m

If you plan to watch the parade, parking is available in city lots, according to the city.
