Several Lowcountry districts announce changes for Monday

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) – Several school districts are closing or undergoing relocation as potential Tropical Cyclone 8 makes landfall on the Southeast coast this week.

A tropical storm warning is currently in effect from Edisto Beach north to North Carolina; rainfall of 1 to 3 inches is expected.

The following timetable changes apply:

Schools and districts

  • Charleston County School District: Charleston County schools are holding eLearning days instead of in-person classes. Kaleidoscope and all other extracurricular activities and afterschool programs scheduled for Monday are canceled.
  • Learn4Life High School-Charlestonwill hold an eLearning day. Students can log in for their live virtual advising classes at 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. Regular classroom instruction will resume on Tuesday.
  • Georgetown County School District: All schools and facilities will be closed on Monday. The district will return to normal operations on Tuesday.
  • Live Oak Little School: On Monday there will be an eLearning day in the preschool.
  • Williamsburg County School District: All schools and facilities will remain closed on Monday. Employees are expected to continue to report to work if possible.

Daycare centers

  • Center Point Learning Center: On Monday there will be an eLearning day at the daycare center.
  • Daycare of the First African Evangelical Church: The daycare center will be closed on Monday.

Normal operations are expected to resume in all schools and school districts on Tuesday.
