Authorities in Washington state have launched an investigation after discovering the bodies of several people, including children, in a home early Monday morning, October 21st.

King County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded around 5 a.m. to reports of a possible suicide at a residence in Fall City, Washington, the sheriff’s office confirms to PEOPLE.

The office said that after police arrived at the scene, they quickly realized it was “a murder investigation with multiple deaths.”

“It appears to be a possible domestic violence situation with no threat to the public,” the sheriff’s office says.

The office confirmed that the victims included both juveniles and adults, but did not provide information on the number of victims or their ages. According to the police, the victims are family members.

A person from the apartment is assisting investigators and police say at least one person was taken to the hospital. It was not immediately clear whether any of those people were the suspects.
