The Marvel Cinematic Universe has definitely had its ups and downs over the past few years. However, things seem to be looking up now, especially with the recent success of Deadpool & Wolverine. Fans are also looking forward to the return of Robert Downey Jr. to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. avenger series (albeit as Doctor Doom). Unfortunately, for some movie fans, an MCU sequel just received a disappointing update.

This update follows several other disappointing reports that this particular film is no longer available. Of course, it’s possible that could change, but given the reception of the potential sequel’s predecessor, that seems unlikely. This disappointing update only further underscores the reality of the situation for fans.

The update, which was published in an article by Variety about actor Kit Harington, who starred in this particular Marvel film, reveals that the studio is not currently working on a sequel. As mentioned, this is consistent with previous reports.

Variety specifically stated the following on this topic:

“Although ‘Eternals’ ended with a hint that the characters would return in a sequel, the Chloe Zhao-directed blockbuster was a box office flop, grossing $402 million worldwide, well below Marvel’s standards. Marvel is reportedly not currently working on a sequel.”

Fans should therefore not expect that Eternal sequel to the failed Marvel MCU film in the near future. Likewise, it is unknown if Kit Harington will reprise his role from the film in any of the studio’s upcoming projects. However, the future is certainly not set for this particular franchise.
