Like so many others, Selena Gomez headed to work yesterday wearing a perfectly summery business-casual ensemble made up of designer brands for a talk at Sephora’s Managers Conference in Las Vegas. The singer, actress and Rare Beauty founder paired a Saint Laurent tank top with a Chloé cropped blazer, Icon Denim jeans and a Saint Laurent belt. She completed the outfit with Alaïa shoes and Tabayer jewelry. The look was styled by Erin Walsh and Gomez showcased it in full on her Instagram Story.

In April, Gomez spoke at the Time100 Summit about how she felt when she entered the beauty industry. “Personally, I felt like there were very unrealistic standards in the beauty world, and it makes me a little sad for my generation and for anyone who looks at something that was probably touched up and made beautiful,” she said. “I just wanted to make that clear. I don’t know how to do makeup, and I have a makeup line. I’m terrible at it.”

Her goal was to create products that didn’t make people feel like they “had to look a certain way, change the shape of their face,” she continued. “I wanted people to feel good when they used my products. And all of our products are named after uplifting things, from our Find Comfort line to anything that touches the mind, body and soul. We try to be very intentional about making sure that even the names of the products are reminders of joy or just finding yourself. So I really just wanted to create makeup that people enjoy. I don’t believe in having to look a certain way. I’ve spent years trying to do that, and it’s just – it’s exhausting, a waste of time.”
