Sean Diddy Combs must pay $100 million in damages for sexual assault

The Sean “Diddy” Combs News is always grim. The disgraced musician was just ordered to pay $100 million to a Michigan inmate named Derrick Lee Cardello-Smith in a default judgment on sexual assault charges after Combs failed to appear for a virtual hearing on Monday.

The message comes from Detroit Metro Times and court documents reviewed by diversity. According to the documents, the decision was made by a Lenawee County District Court judge after Cardello-Smith, 51, obtained a restraining order against Combs in August. Cardello-Smith, who is currently serving a different sentence, claims Combs drugged and sexually assaulted him at a party in Detroit in 1997.

According to court documents, Combs met Cardello-Smith when he was working at a restaurant in Detroit. The two later attended the party in question, where they met a group of women and had sex with them. During this, Cardello-Smith allegedly felt Combs touching him. He later claims Combs offered him a drugged drink, after which he passed out. When he woke up, he said he saw Combs having sex with a woman and claims the musician told him, “I did that to you too.”

Cardello-Smith also claims that Combs offered him $2.3 million in August to dismiss the case, but he refused. Apparently he was able to provide information about the detention center showing that Combs’ name is on his visitation log. The judge has now set a $10 million per month payment plan for Combs, starting October 1. Detroit Metro Times speculated that this “could be the largest amount awarded to a non-lawyer and currently incarcerated prisoner in history.”

In a statement to Detroit Metro TimesCombs’ attorney, Marc Agnifilo, denied the allegations. The statement said: “This man is a convicted felon and sex offender who has been convicted of 14 counts of sexual assault and kidnapping over the past 26 years. His resume now includes defrauding court from prison, as Mr. Combs has never heard from him, let alone been served with a lawsuit. Mr. Combs hopes to have this conviction overturned quickly.”
