Milton unleashed torrential rain and strong winds across Florida after making landfall near Siesta Key, south of Sarasota, on Wednesday evening, October 9. The deadly and powerful storm, which entered the state Thursday morning as a Category 3 hurricane and exited it as a Category 1 hurricane, spawned tornadoes and caused severe flooding. The Tampa area, which was spared a direct hit from the storm’s eyewall, still recorded 9 inches of rain over a three-hour period on Wednesday.

Samaritan’s Purse will be based in Charlotte County, Florida. Our base will be the Movement Church in Port Charlotte. We help clear mud from homes and cut down fallen trees, all while sharing the hope that can only be found in Jesus Christ.

We will also be providing our Helene answers in Perry and Tampa/St. continue. Petersburg, Florida, including damage by Milton as required.

Shortly after Helene flooded the Big Bend region of Florida in late September, Samaritan’s Purse deployed two disaster relief units to the Sunshine State. Since then, volunteer teams have been caring for devastated homeowners by clearing scattered debris, cutting down fallen trees, and covering damaged roofs—all while sharing the gospel.

Please join us in praying for the victims of hurricanes Helene and Milton.
