An unexpected verbal altercation between co-hosts Sam Mitchell and Chris Miles added a strange twist to an NBA TV show Friday night, with Mitchell appearing to reveal Miles’ address after threatening to do so earlier on the show.

The incident arose from a discussion about Warriors stars Draymond Green and Stephen Curry and longtime coach Steve Kerr after a photo of them showing Curry wearing his gold medal from the Paris Olympics was shown.

But while Curry has one over the summer, Mitchell – a retired NBA player who coached the Raptors from 2004 to 2008 and served as interim coach of the Timberwolves from 2015 to 2016 – brought up that Kerr doesn’t do this because coaches do don’t do it. They don’t get Olympic medals in all sports.

“The coaches don’t get medals, he said. “I guess it just shows what international – how they value coaches. Not at all.”

“I’m surprised coaches get a paycheck for this show,” Miles replied, trying to keep the mood light. “I think maybe you should volunteer, my friend.”

“You know, last time I looked at my check it was pretty close,” Mitchell replied. “So hey, I’m accepting donations.”

Mitchell seemed uncomfortable and quickly turned his attention to Miles.

“Why don’t you get some of the money you have?” Since you’re over there bragging about it,” he said.

“I’m not bragging,” Miles replied, laughing.

This was no laughing matter for Mitchell, however, as he began to bring up Miles’ possessions and finances.

“Oh, I’m sorry,” Mitchell said. “Did you rent out your beach house down in Florida during the hurricane? Or do I have to move on? How about your townhouse?

“You want to confront me. I mean, come on. You scream broken and hungry. Let’s just see it. You know, I know what you have and where you live, young guy. So you have to stop.”

Miles tried to get the conversation going again by making the joke, “I think we have snitches on the show today. His name is Sam Mitchell.”

But Mitchell didn’t bite.

“No, we don’t have any informants,” Mitchell said. “We have fortune tellers. You’re the one crying up here, poor and destitute – do I have to keep going or do you want me to stop now?”

“How about we go to that game between the Sacramento Kings and the Golden State Warriors?” Miles tried again.

“I told you, young guy, you gotta stop messing with me on national television,” Mitchell said. “I told you about it. Hey, do I have to give out the address? Because you’re not home right now.

While Mitchell didn’t reveal Miles’ address immediately on the broadcast, he reportedly said it later mid-game on the broadcast, leading to further back and forth in the awkward, bizarre moment.
