Saints vs. Chargers Best NFL Prop Bets for NFL Week 8 (Count on the Chargers Ground Game)

The Chargers will look to shake off their Monday Night Football loss to the Arizona Cardinals at home against the struggling New Orleans Sasints.

The Saints are out of shape without quarterback Derek Carr, but can the team unlock another part of its offense with a healthy Taysom Hill? I’m watching Hill in the player prop market as well as the Chargers’ two key players, Justin Herbert and JK Dobbins.

Here are three player props for this Week 8 action.

Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook

Taysom Hill OVER 14.5 rushing yards

Hill is back from a rib injury and will likely be asked to provide some relief for Spencer Rattler while continuing to fill in for Derek Carr at center.

The Swiss Army Knife quarterback has surpassed that total in the three games he’s played, and with Rattler struggling through two starts, I can imagine the team trying to implement a more conservative game plan with Hill leading the charge drives forward.

Justin Herbert UNDER 203.5 yards

The Saints’ pass defense was a solid unit all season, ranking third in EPA/dropback rankings. With the Chargers’ more run-based approach, the team has the seventh-lowest passing percentage. I can see the team keeping this game in the hands of their running backs.

While Herbert has exceeded that mark in two straight games, the previous four were under 200 yards, let alone that total. I assume that in a difficult duel there will be a regression and that Herbert will go down.

JK Dobbins OVER 74.5 rushing yards

If the Chargers lean on the ground game like the team should, this should be a big effort for Dobbins.

The Saints have an elite secondary, but the rush defense has been a disaster for head coach Dennis Allen, who is ranked 31st in the EPA/Rush rankings.

Dobbins is the clear top player in this Chargers offense, having scored at least 14 runs in every game since Week 1, and with an advantageous matchup, I’m happy to back him to surpass that rush total.

The game odds are updated regularly and are subject to change.
