Sacramento Kings fans flood DOCO for Fanfest as excitement builds for regular season games

SACRAMENTO – Kings fans flocked to DOCO on Sunday for the annual Fan Fest at the Golden 1 Center. They were able to see the team in action at an open practice as they waited for the regular season to begin this week.

“I’m looking forward to the energy,” said Alek Scheffler, the manager of the Cabana Club in DOCO.

Cabana Club is a new company that has gotten a taste of the action to come and many are looking forward to serving customers new creations this season.

“It’s going to get busier,” said Christopher Rothman, who works at World Traveler in DOCO. “Start serving coffee to people who want to stay awake the whole game.”

With increased foot traffic, it also means increased safety to prevent incidents like the one the night before Fan Fest where a person was shot near 4th and L Streets. Sacramento police said the bullets also hit six empty cars parked in the nearby DOCO parking garage.

“There are a lot of people here of different ages where you never know what’s going to happen,” Rothman said.

The companies said police and security guards are constantly checking in with them to ensure everything is running smoothly so fans can focus on the fun this season.

“Sometimes things can get a little crazy from time to time depending on where you are, and the police are always there to make sure people are under control and having a good time,” said Robert Hall, the general manager from Fizz Champagne and Bubble Bar.

With big additions to this season’s roster like DeMar DeRozan, Kings fans have high hopes for the Beam team.

At Fanfest, VIP Package attendees also had the opportunity to meet and greet with Kings alumni Anthony Bonner and Ralph Sampson.

There was food, drinks, music, individual trading cards and a children’s zone. During the open practice, Kings players also had skills challenges and a rookie talent show.
